Token Engineering Labs is a research, engineering and consulting boutique aiming to support web3, token and blockchain projects in rigorous design of their system and token applications. We leverage experience from academic grade theoretical research, token project design, university and community teaching. We therefore have expertise in blockchain ecosystem architecture, tokenized systems, cryptoeconomics, token economics and complex systems engineering. Allowing us to join teams worldwide to help them model, design, analyze, stress-test, simultate and optimize their token economies. This extends to decentralized applications (dApps), decentralized finance (defi) projects, web3 gaming and other blockchain protocols. Through the use of eminent methodologies from token engineering and cryptoeconomics research, our work will assist teams to make well-informed design choices and mitigate the risk of failure.

Applied projects
Depending on the current state of the project we can work with you in different stages of the process, ranging from ideation to formal specification and design of your ecosystem. Most applied research projects attempt to:
1. Define the ecosystem and its purpose, goals, and requirements. Here we will make initial specifications of mechanisms and define the ecosystem and token flows.
2. Build a digital twin of the ecosystem that can be used for monitoring and developing the ecosystem with data-driven decision making - supporting the introduction of new mechanisms and parameters.

Approach
Cryptoeconomics is the interdisciplinary theoretic discipline which addresses the alignment of individual incentives with community goals over time in digital decentralized economic systems. Mechanisms dictate the rules of the game on the microscopic level, policies and incentives institutionalize behavioral patterns on the meso level and emergent system properties as well as desired system goals are manifestations of aggregations of individual actions on the macroscopic level.
Complex Systems Engineering is the methodological counterpart to Cryptoeconomics as it provides the appropriate toolkit for modeling, design, simulation, implementation and control of digital ecosystems. The engineering approach enables a full life cycle perspective with adequate focus on specification, maintenance and governance. Based on tailored research design and selected modeling and simulation techniques it equips system architects and stakeholders with the required information to be able to make sound and educated decisions.
Discovery phase
In the discovery phase we create diagrams, graphs, visuals, taxonomies, glossaries, collations of research questions, and system maps aiming at describing the main components of the system, and their interrelations. A principal part of this phase will be definition of business and technical requirements of the ecosystem.
Design phase
In the design phase we create mathematical specifications (generic or specific), state space representations, technical formalism documents, analytical proofs and derivations, mechanism design specifications and differential specifications of the system.
Deployment phase
In the deployment phase we write source code and model files of simulation program implementing the specifications above, results of verifications and validation tests, experiment definitions and setups, test-case definitions, simulation results, parameter selections and policy recommendations.
